Happy Finals Week!
Its finals week for students at Miami and its crazy to think that a whole year has passed since I graduated. All I can say is that I am sooooo happy that I don't have to take finals anymore.

A Good Day
Today's been great.... probably one of the most social days I've had in awhile and such a refreshment to my soul.
*Kiwanis pancake breakfast (arguably one of the town's best events) with Liz and our friends Kim and Spencer
*Coaching in West Chester (but only for a fat minute because the torrential downpour started as soon as I got there)
*Lunch with Vik and Welker (friends and former club softball teammates)
*Hangout with Michelle in Cincy (friend, former bible study leader, and former occupant of my current bedroom)
*Babysit for the Elliotts (a family I work with on staff with Cru whose 3 kids are freaking hilarious and so much fun to hang out with)
*Bring Anders to Kofenya and naturally become the most popular person in the shop (he's really improving my social status quite a bit)

You're My Hero #12!
So. This is my roommate Liz, who you should probably know by now if you have ever read this blog before. Generally Liz is pretty good at "playing it cool," if you will. At Nationals, however, she finally revealed a few concerning tendencies that may or may not fit the label of "crazed fan." A particular Miami Club Softball player (who will remain unmentioned in the event that anyone would desire to follow Liz's lead of stalking her) was performing exceptionally well at the tournament and, if I do say so myself, is a pretty impressive player (especially for a freshman)! Liz decided that she would become this girl's biggest fan and thus took the liberty of sporting a jersey with her number on it (see below). Now, I too enjoy supporting my friend's athletic endeavors. But the slightly odd thing about this fan-mania is that Liz and the unmentioned girl have never met... I mean, they haven't even spoken once (Liz had a few opportunities but was too nervous). We therefore have an awesomely awkward situation and I can't wait until #12 figures out that she has a very loyal, and slightly creepy fan.

Samuel T. Anders
We have decided on a name! Given mine and Liz's recent Battlestar Galactica obsession, it only seemed fitting that mr. kitten would have a name appropriate to his level of awesomeness. Samuel T. Anders, "Anders" for short, is already adjusting well to his new home. Except for his demands to play from 5:30-6:30am this morning, he's been sleeping like a champ and has been such a fun addition to our life here in apt 11.

Introducing the new addition to apt 11
He's so stinking precious. 7 weeks, 15 oz. I'm thinking of sending out official birth announcements... too much? Also, I haven't been able to decide on a name yet. Suggestions are definitely welcomed.

Road trippin' it back to good ole OH
What a trip! 3 days and 8 softball games later, I'm officially back from Georgia and trying to settle back into normal life. The weather down south was beautiful and we had a blast watching MUCS pull out a 3rd place finish... and sadly, the time went by way too fast. Welk, Liz, and I survived the 9.5hr drive home today which is always a plus and we even had a nice 6:45am stop at Bojangle's for miss Elizabeth who has been praying and hoping that we would be able to get her a sweet potato pie at some point. Although we were exhausted, spirits were relatively high and I was able to sneak in a solid 3 hr nap in the backseat. Tomorrow, it's back to business as usual. But between now and then, I'll be getting the best sleep of my life :)
Nationals 2012, Day 3
Sorry for the delay friends! First off, Saturday quickly ran into Sunday- celebrating MUCS 3rd place finish at nationals became a late night affair, which led directly into a 3am start time for the drive home. Then, to make blogging matters a bit more difficult, Liz's iPhone has decided that posting pictures is too difficult. Sad day. But more details and photos to come!
Did I mention my old team is ranked 3rd in the nation?!?! Congratulations girls!

Nationals 2012, Day 2
Today was incredible. MUCS pulled out 3 straight wins to end the second day of the tournament as one of two teams to go undefeated thus far in elimination play. Tomorrow, we take on the University of Florida at 1pm and for the first time in Miami Club Softball history, we're guaranteed to finish as one of the top 3 club teams in the nation!

Goodbye weekend, hello Nationals 2k12!
In 3 days, I will be traveling with my current roomie and my former roomie to Columbus, GA to cheer on Miami's club softball team at the NCSA's annual national tournament! So. Pumped. Last year (my senior year) I had to miss the big event because I was out of the country and those were probably 4 of the saddest days of my life... although, I did manage to keep up by facebook/twitter stalking. This year, however, I'm lucky enough to have Thursday and Friday off work to cheer on the team that has been such a huge part of my life. AND I get to road trip it with 2 awesome people who have also been a huge part of my life. I can't wait! Let the countdown begin!

Aruna 5K!
So today, I joined some of my fellow Miami Cru staff to help out at the annual Aruna 5k run on the University of Cincinnati's campus. Although it was cold and rainy, nearly 300 runners came out (raising over $20,000) to support the foundation which works to bring an end to human trafficking in South Asia. It was such a privilege to get to help out (even in the seemingly insignificant role of pointing in the direction runners were supposed to go and repeating the phrase "nice job guys" over and over again) and to witness the coming together of hundreds of college students for a cause that is, sadly, often way too easy to forget about. I'm grateful that God, in His mercy, is moving the hearts of students to be a voice for the voiceless- to use their resources, minds, and finances to bring about change for the oppressed while also trusting Jesus to soften the hearts of the oppressors. So. Today, I am praying that God would continue to raise up laborers who will support this cause and that He would open our eyes to other ways that we can bring light to some of the incredibly dark places in the world. Will you join me?

The Hunger Games, round 2
Tonight I saw the Hunger Games for the second time. My precious mother wanted to go see it after just recently finishing the book (which I bought for her at Christmas but which she was hesitant to read because she thought it was just about a bunch of kids murdering each other). So sadly she didn't start reading it until a couple of weeks ago but, naturally, she couldn't put it down and thus finished it within a few days. So we enjoyed an evening at the movies together which was lovely and refreshing and hilarious because we both wear hoodies for fear of getting lice from the movie theater seats. Its nice to know that some of my strange ways of engaging with the world are not burdens that I have to bear alone :)

Happy 94 Days! (Kind of an obscure number but I didn't feel like waiting 6 more days to say "Happy 100")
My dear bloggers, we've been together 94 days. Such a long time. It's kind of a miracle that I haven't forgotten to post yet...and that I've managed to not wear out my love of highlighter yellow. On the contrary, I believe my obsession is only growing with time :)
